Enter Passcode for the Other iPhone After a Resetting, What to Do.

Imagine the scenario. You got your iPhone in security lockout mode with the forgotten passcode. Later you unlock it with a factory resetting on it. But you might be trapped in the screen during the setup process while the screen is asking you to enter the passcode for other iPhone. You have no idea about the passcode, either. Why? What should you do? And what happens if you hit the “Don’t Know iPhone Passcode”?

Why it happens?

When you sign in to your Apple Account for the first time on a new device, you’ll need to bypass the two-factor authentication turned on with your Apple ID account. You’ll need to trust the device by entering the verification code from another trusted devices that signed into your Apple ID. Besides, you should retrieve your end-to-end data stored in iCloud by entering one of your iPhones’ passcodes.

What should you do if you don’t know the passcode that is required during the setup?

On the “Enter the Passcode for Other iPhone” screen, it says Enter the passcode you use to unlock the iPhone [Name]. This passcode protects your Apple ID, saved passwords, and other data stored in iCloud. Your passcode is encrypted and cannot be read by Apple.

If you remember the passcode that on one of your other iPhones that signed into the same Apple ID, enter it to bypass the screen.

If you can’t remember any of the passcode or enter it wrong for several times. You should also see the texts with smaller blue fonts “Don’t know iPhone Passcode”. Hit the option.

The screen will remind you with the message below.

Don’t know Passcode?

If you can’t remember the passcode for Your name’s iPhone, you can still sign in but you won’t be able to access any passwords or other end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud.

Hit the Enter Passcode later option. And you should bypass the screen and get into the normal setup process.

From the above message you learn that you can’t access any passwords or the other end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud.

However, what are the passwords and the end-to-end encrypted data? Apple has explained it in the Apple Support website.

The data includes health and passwords in iCloud keychains and other end-to-end encrypted data.

With newer iOS versions, you’ll lose more data if you turn on the Advanced Data Protection for iCloud.
