Apple ID Sign Out is Not Available due to Restrictions – Here’s the Fix
Can’t you sign out of your Apple ID on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod due to Restrictions, saying “Sign out is not available due to restrictions”?

What should you do to fix the issue, and enable the Sign-out option to successfully log out? Let’s explore the refined solutions available in this article.
What Does It Mean?
“Sign Out is Not Available due to Restrictions” is a message that can appear on your iPhone or iPad when you try to sign out of Apple ID, but the device is preventing you from doing so with the greyed-out Sign Out option. It can appear on iOS 13, iOS 14, iOS 15, and iOS 16, iOS 17, iOS 18, iOS 26 or later. Also It can appear on the synchronized iPadOS versions.

Why It Happened?
This issue typically occurs when you’ve activated Screen Time and secured it with a passcode. Apple has implemented a security measure that prevents signing out of the Apple ID when Screen Time restrictions are in place. However, you can resolve this problem by following the methods outlined below.
Solution 1. How to Fix Sign Out is Unavailable by Turning Off the Screen Time Passcode. iOS 17/18/26 Supported.
If you encounter the ‘Sign out is not available due to restrictions’ message on your iPhone running iOS 17/18/26, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Screen Time.
- Tap Change Screen Time Passcode.
- Select Turn off Screen Time passcode.
- Enter your screen time passcode to confirm the action.
- Refresh your Apple ID page, seeing Sign out is not available due to restrictions alert disappears, and the Sign out option highlighted.
After completing these steps, wait for a moment and then refresh your Apple ID page. The Sign Out option should now be available, and the message should disappear.
On iOS 26, the software offers you the options that you can save your data or not when you signing out of your Apple ID.
On iOS 16 or Prior versions.

After Turning Off Screen time, Do A Restart or Force Restart If Necessary. Your Sign out option should be highlighted with that message disappearing.
If the Sign Out Option is still greyed out after you disable the screen time on your personal iPhone/iPad, restart or force restart your iPhone or iPad, and wait for a while. Solution 3. Fix “Sign out is not available due to restrictions” Showing up on devices with Family Sharing.
Fix devices showing Sign out is not available due to restrictions with screen time being set up via Family sharing.
When the screen time passcode is set up via family sharing, fix the issue by disabling screen time. For example. “Sign out is not available due to restrictions” happens on a child’s device and Screen Time is set up via a parent’s iPhone.
Do the following, even if you forget the screen time passcode for your child.
On the organizer’s device.
- Tap Settings > Screen Time.
- Scroll down and Choose the Child’s Name under family.
- Scroll down and Tap Change Screen Time Passcode > Change Screen Time Passcode or Turn off Screen Time Passcode.
- Authenticate with your Touch ID, Face ID, or passcode to proceed.
- Get to Settings >Tap Screen Time >Tap the Child’s Name >Tap Turn off Screen Time.
If the Sign Out option is still greyed out after you disable the screen time on your Child’s iPhone/iPad, restart the iPhone or iPad or wait for a while, you should see ‘Sign out’ is not greyed out on your Child’s iPhone or iPad then. There is a short delay sometimes.
