iPhone Unavailable Erase iPhone not Working? Here’s Fix and Why

Getting your iPhone unavailable, when you use the Erase iPhone option, it won’t work.  We’re here to help you out.

You may have heard about the newly released way by Apple since iOS 15.2 or iPadOS 15.2 or later when you forgot the passcode. But you may also have trouble using the Erase iPhone option.

If your iPhone is unavailable and the Erase iPhone option is not working for you, you may not meet the requirements to use the Erase iPhone option.

Let’s explain to you the requirements to use the Erase iPhone option method. If you use an iPad, the option is Erase iPad.

You should have the following four prerequisites.

Without any one of these prerequisites, you can’t use the Erase iPhone(iPad) option.

  1. Your iPhone or iPad should be running iOS 15.2 or iPadOS 15 or later.
  2. You should sign in to at least one Apple ID account and know your Apple ID password before the lockout. The Apple ID password is the iCloud account paired with your Apple ID in use before it’s unavailable.
  3. Your iPhone or iPad is connected to the Wi-Fi or network.
  4. Find My iPhone is enabled before the iPhone got unavailable.

When the Erase iPhone option method is not working for you, you still have the below smart methods to get your iPhone out of the iPhone unavailable security lockout mode.

When an iPhone got into security lockout mode, you can’t save the existing data on it. You have no other choices but to erase and reset it to factory settings to enable it. If you have your previous backups, it’s the only comfort to get back most of your data.

Solution 1.  Erase and Unlock the Unavailable iPhone with the SD iPhone Unlocker.

Unlock Screen Passcode - Start

Turn off your iPhone and put it in recovery mode (connecting to the computer).

For iPhone 8, iPhone X, or later, including iPhone SE2, and SE3.

Turn off your iPhone. Quickly press the volume up button, immediately press the volume down button, then press the side button and keep holding it while immediately connecting the iPhone to your computer. Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen, then let go.

For iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Turn off your iPhone. Press and hold the volume button for your iPhone while immediately connecting your iPhone to the computer. Don’t let go of the button. Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen, then let go.

For iPhone SE1, iPhone 6s, and earlier.

Turn off your iPhone. Press and hold the home button while immediately connecting your iPhone to your computer. Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen, then let go.

Hit Start and Download firmware.

When you put your iPhone in recovery mode successfully, the app should automatically detect your iPhone mode and offers you the firmware package to download.

Hit download and wait for a few moments. During the download process, if your iPhone exits recovery mode, let the download finish first. When the download is complete, put your iPhone in recovery mode again.

If the download lasts more than 15 minutes, it will exit the recovery mode.

Confirm Unlock. When the Unlock is complete, disconnect it from your computer.

Hit Unlock. When the pop-up window asks you to enter “000000” to confirm it. Enter “000000” to confirm. The unlocking process will start.

When you see the “unlock is complete” screen, unplug it from your computer.

When you see the hello screen on your iPhone, set it up.

Solution 2.  Erase the iPhone on Finder or iTunes.

Many people find it hard to fix a lockout iPhone on iTunes. Make sure you have installed the latest iTunes version on your PC. If you use a Mac Catalina or later, make sure to update your Mac to the latest version, and it will also update the Finder to the latest version.

To restore your unavailable iPhone with iTunes or Finder, you should also put it in recovery mode.

Turn off your iPhone and put it in recovery mode as the Solution 1 direction shows.

After connecting it to your computer and entering recovery mode. iTunes or Finder should pop up a window.

Choose the restore option and confirm restore. Don’t choose Update, it won’t fix your unavailable iPhone.

Meanwhile, when your iPhone exits the recovery mode after 15 minutes during the download, let the software download finish. Then put it in recovery mode when the download is finished.

If you can’t use the Erase option, you probably can’t use the iCloud.com Erase or Find My app to erase and reset it. It seems Apple designs the Erase iPhone option based on the Find My iPhone security measures.
