Option 1. Recover missing iPhone contacts with iCloud.

Head into Settings >Apple ID [your name] > iCloud

Toggle the Contacts switch from on to off. Tap “Keep on My iPhone” when prompted.

Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power off slider appears, wait and press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

For iPhone 8/7/6

Step 3: Turn on iCloud Sync.

Head into Settings >Apple ID [your name] > iCloud

Toggle the Contacts switch from off to on/green.

Step 4: Reopen Contacts app to check all contacts.

Step 5 Delete Group from iCloud and Repeat from step 1 to 4.

Export and back up iCloud contacts by export vCard to your computer for a backup. Delete the contact group from iCloud.com via the setting menu on your computer.

As the crash caused by the iCloud group, you can delete and rebuild your contacts group later or restore them with the exporting one. This action would not delete your contacts, just delete your groups.

Afterward, perform steps 1 to 4 again.

In that case, your iPhone comes with all of your existing contacts without contact groups. You can either restore your groups,or manually rebuild them by going to iCloud.com.
