Part 3. Apple official option: Put iPhone 8/8 Plus into Recovery Mode to reset via iTunes or Finder.
Step 1: Enter Recovery Mode.
Make sure your iPhone 8/8 Plus isn’t connected to your computer when entering recovery mode.
- On your iPhone 8/8 Plus: Press and hold the Side button and one of the volume buttons until the power off slider appears.
- Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone 8/8 Plus.
- Connect your iPhone 8/8 Plus to your computer while holding the side button. Keep holding the Side button until you see the recovery mode screen.
Step 2: Locate your iPhone 8/8 Plus via your iTunes or Finder.
Step 3: Choose “Restore”.
The iTunes or finder will detect your iPhone 8/8 Plus with recovery mode. Choose the Restore option on the pop-up window. iTunes or Finder will download the latest software for your iPhone 8/8 Plus. If the process takes more than 15 minutes, your iPhone 8/8 Plus will exit recovery mode and you should repeat steps 1-4.
Step 4: Set up your iPhone 8/8 Plus as new or restore from the most recent back up if there is one.
Part 4. Use iCloud to erase your disabled iPhone 8/8 Plus.
Requirements: your iPhone 8/8 Plus is connected to the ethernet and Find My is enabled.
You also need a computer or your other iDevice to open icloud.com.
You still need your Apple ID passcode to erase your iPhone 8/8 Plus.
Step 1: Head to iCloud.com login in with your iCloud account. Then click Find iPhone.
Step 2: Locate your iPhone 8/8 Plus and click erase. Enter your Apple ID passcode.
step 3: Confirm to erase your iPhone 8/8 Plus.
Note that if you have other iOS device，you should receive the two-factor authentication code on it. And trust on that device for iCloud authentication.
